Satellite TV for PC programs are gaining greater following worldwide and the usage has been steadily increasing over the past few years since it is cheap, efficient, and convenient. However, this type of software also has shortcomings like any other product on the market. In this article I would like to focus on those.
1.Pitiful picture and audio quality - Most satellite TV to PC programs suffer from poor quality video and sound. Grainy images and
distorted high-pitched squeaks are some of the common issues plaguing this type of software. I know this for a fact as I've purchased a total of four different watch TV on PC programs over the past year. Thankfully I did finally get a product worth the money I paid for it.
2.Worthless channel selection - The software providers claim to offer tons of channels so you can experience the enormous variety of shows enjoyed by many cable/satellite TV owners. In reality, most if not all the channels being offered are next to worthless. Let's face it; most people are into TV for sports, films, soaps, cartoons, and up-to-date news. Therefore it's important that you find a program that has a top notch channel lineup including ESPN, Discovery, CBS, NBC, etc. Fact is, most satellite TV on PC programs contain channels that are not worth watching.
3.Excess Baggage - Another major setback with this kind of software is that many are packed with spyware and adware which can cause serious damage to your computer. This problem is rampant among free programs, but there are quite a few paid ones carrying the excess baggage as well. This malicious excess baggage is attached to these free programs and low budget software in order to steal your identity or log your key strokes, or access your passwords, and of course, shove mountains of unwanted ads down your throat.
4.Slow loading time - The first two programs I bought were slower than a one armed paper hanger. Many satellite TV on PC programs load very slowly due to shoddy programming, excessive spy and adware, or site quality unable to handle the band width requirements. Not much is more frustrating than waiting and waiting for your show to load, then waiting in the middle for it to load some more. I don't want to watch the waiting symbol, I want to watch NCIS.
5.Constant crashes - Another big bummer, and this could be attributed to the fact that most satellite TV to PC software is built on a low rent programming platform which leads to repeated crashes. I had one program that literally crashed before it even it loaded. Yeah, the crashing sound of here's your refund rang through pretty immediately. Fortunately I paid with PayPal and was able to get a refund.
Although many "watch TV online" software solutions have major issues, please don't take this to mean there is no hope. The trick is to find the right satellite TV on computer program which minimizes or eliminates these issues. Fear not. There are several good solutions to the problems.
